1. Intelligent Robot Tutorial

The team that entered the final Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI) and the Intelligent Robot Contest Indonesia (KRCI) 2008 was officially announced today (see: Announcement of Final KRI / KRCI 2008). Twenty-four (24) the team entitled to contest the race climbing robot nut (KRI) and 37 teams compete in the contest robot smart robot fire extinguisher (KRCI). How do I create robots that can be great & so smart? In this tutorial will explain the steps to make robots smarter, better KRI / KRCI.The stages in the manufacture of robots
Broadly speaking, the stage of making a robot can be seen in the figure below:
tutorial to make intelligent robot manufacturing stages
There are three stages of the manufacture of robots, namely:

1. Planning, including: the selection of hardware and design.

2. Creation, covering the manufacture of mechanical, electronic, and programs.

3. Trials.
1. Planning stage
In this stage, we plan what we will create, quite simply, we want to create robots that like? useful for what? Things need to be determined in this stage:

* The dimensions, ie length, width, height and approximate weight of the robot. KRI-sized robot 1m high prominence, while the robot KRCI height about 25 cm.

* The structure of the material, whether from aluminum, iron, wood, plastic, and so on.

* The workings of robots, robots contain parts and functions of the parts. For example the arms, conveyors, elevators, power supply.

* Sensors that will be used robots.

* The mechanism, how the mechanical system so that the robot can complete the task.

* Method of control, namely how the robot can be controlled and driven, microprocessor yanga used, and the block diagram of the system.

* The strategy to win the game, if the robot will be included race / contest robot Indonesia / International.
2. Stages of manufacture
There are three jobs to be done in this phase, namely the manufacture of mechanical, electronic, and programming. Each requires people with different specialties, namely:

* Specialist Mechanic, a suitable field is mechanical engineering and industrial engineering.

* Specialist Electronics, a suitable field is electrical engineering.

* Programming Specialist, science is a technique suitable informatics.
So in a robot team, there should be personnel who have specific skills that complement each other. This is necessary in forming Team Indonesia Robot Contest (KRI) or the Intelligent Robot Contest Indonesia (KRCI). Field of science that I mentioned earlier, not optional student / alumni majors or courses of study, for example, may be students majoring in mechanical engineering to learn programming.
To follow the race KRI / KRCI needed a solid team. But for you who are interested in making robots as a hobby or want to learn, all can be done by yourself, because you are not bound by time or deadlines. So you could do with more relaxed.
Manufacture of mechanical
After an outline description of the robot was designed, then the order can begin to be made. Generally, the robot KRI framework made of aluminum or aluminum box elbow. One segment of the framework are connected to each other with aluminum rivets. Aluminum rivet is a useful kind of nails to attach the sheet metal tightly. Order robot KRCI more varied, can be made of plastic or metal such as grating length.
Manufacture of electronic systems
Parts of electronic systems designed in accordance with the desired function. For example to drive a DC motor h-bridge is required, while the relay is required to drive the switch transistor. Sensors which will be used to learn and understand how it works, for example:

1. Proximity sensor, could use the SRF04, GP2D12, or assemble their own modules ultrasonic or infrared sensors.

2. Direction sensor, could use a compass sensor CMPS03 or Dinsmore.

3. Temperature sensors, can use the LM35 or other sensors.

4. Sensor flame / heat, can use UVTron or thermopile.

5. The sensor line follower / line detector, can use the LED & photo transistor.
Here is a picture ultrasonic sensors, infrared, UVTron, and the compass:

Making electronic system includes three stages:

* Design the PCB, for example by Altium DXP program.

* Printing the PCB, can Proboard.

* Assembling and testing electronic circuits.

Making Software / Programs
Making software is done after the tool is ready to be tested. This software is embedded (downloaded) on the microcontroller so that the robot can function as expected.
tutorial to make intelligent robot programming
Manufacturing phase of this program include:

1. The design algorithm or program flow

For a simple function, the algorithm can be made directly at the time of writing programs. For complex functions, the algorithm is made by using flow charts.

2. Writing Program

Writing programs in C language, Assembly, Basic, or the language of the most controlled.

3. Compile and download, which is to transfer the program that we wrote to the robot.
3. Trial
Once we download the program to the microcontroller (robot brain) means we are ready to do the final stage in making the robot, namely the trial. To KRCI, trials conducted in the arena area of about 4 × 4 feet and shaped like a puzzle. In this arena KRCI placed candles should be extinguished by the fire extinguisher intelligent robots. For the robot contest KRI, needed a larger space, which is about 15 × 15 meters. In the Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI) 2008, each robot must reach the target (ball / cube) placed at high altitudes, so a robot should be able to rise above the other robot to reach these targets (such as climbing nut).
